insurance 3Obviously, your driving record has a heck of a lot to do with your car insurance rates. It is likewise obvious that if your driving history is poor, you are going to pay more. Accidents make your rates go up, of course. What really kills you in the rates department are violations: reckless driving, DUI, DWI, speeding tickets, and other such moving violations. It can stay on your for years, and you will pay out the nose the whole time. Driving safely means more than keeping yourself and other drivers safe, it actually does pay to do it.

There are some surprising factors, too. For instance, if you are married, you are more likely to pay less for car insurance. Plus, the higher your education, the lower your rates — so stay in school, kids!

insurance 2Do you know what affects your car insurance rates? There are a lot of factors, many of which come as quite a surprise to a number of drivers. We are going to take a look at several of them in this series of posts.

First of all, the place where you live can either cause you to pay less … or a whole lot more. You see, the suburbs and cities that are very congested with traffic will cause you to pay higher rates. The same goes for high crime areas that have a high rate of stolen vehicles. Drivers who live in areas where there is a low risk of theft or little traffic, however, will generally pay lower rates.

texting-while-drivingWhenever you are splitting up your focus between texting and driving, I can promise you that something is going to happen.  Not only are you going to be putting yourself at a greater risk than if you were just concentrating on driving but you are not going to be as focused on either item.

Texting is something that can wait.  When you are driving, there is absolutely no reason why you should be texting or even using your cell phone as the driving portion is where you attention should lie.

Driving is not easy – it is something that takes focus and concentration not just to pay attention to the road but to pay attention to other people, as that is the major reason people get into accidents.  Keep that in mind.

071231_text_drivingIt is a brand new year folks and what better way to start off the brand new year than to talk about texting and driving.  To be perfectly honest, in this day and age, it seems like every single teenager and young adult has a brand new cell phone that they are just waiting to try out.

Cell phones these days seem more like mini-computers than anything and I can tell you for sure that they are dangerous, especially if you are using them while you are driving.  Driving is something that take a heck of a lot of focus and when you are attempting to multi-task while driving, things can happen and the risk gets heightened.
